Road Rage

For the first time in my life I was a victim of road road the other day.

Anyone who knows me knows I have some anger management issues on the road. I'm pretty famous for my cursing, flicking off, and even horn honking. Well on Friday I experienced something I never thought would happen. I was on the other side of the road rage.

It all started Friday morning when I was leaving work to go to my doctor's appointment downtown. I was driving on Roanoke Street in the Southside, waiting to turn right. Just as I came up to the light it turned red, so I stopped. I wasn't in any hurry (for once) and I didn't want to risk trying to make the light.

The guy behind me didn't have my same attitude and proceeded to lay on his horn, wave his hands in the air, and start cursing me out. "Okay, wipe your ass and get over it, buddy. We're stuck at the light now, what do you want me to do?"

After the light turned green and I safely made my right turn, the driver behind me got beside my car in the next lane, rolled his window down, and continued to curse me out for not making the light. So I cursed back a little in my infamous New York City fashion, but I was still calm at this point. From here on, the 50-something-year-old man in his shitty Civic or whatever it was, tried to run me off the side of the road.

Mind you by this point I'm driving on Semmes Avenue and there is no shoulder, just a grass median with trees. So I hit my brakes and start to slow down to let him pass me and what does he do? He slows down and continues swerving, bobbing and weaving in and out of the lanes trying to hit me with his car. All the while yelling out of his window, "Why didn't you turn? You could've turned right!"

"IF YOU WERE IN SUCH A HURRY, THEN WHY ARE YOU SLOWING DOWN TRYING TO HIT MY CAR, YOU MANIAC?"

So I get his license plate number and call the cops. "You're welcome dirt bag. I hope you got pulled over for reckless driving."

I still can't fathom how a man in his fifties can have such road rage to want to hit my car and run me off the side of the road. I couldn't believe what had happened. Needless to say it ruined my once calm and relaxed Friday morning.

Moral of the story: There's a first time for everything.

Warm Wx

Spring makes me so happy.

I feel like there is absolutely nothing that can ruin a day like today. Warm, sunny, and not a cloud in the sky.

Tomorrow I am going wedding dress shopping with one of my best friends. She is getting married next May. I am just overjoyed for her. She moved to Ohio a couple years ago with her boyfriend (now fiancé) and I've missed her dearly since then. I'm so happy to be able to help her with the whole wedding process.

For those of you who don't know, I have planned my wedding (in its' entirety) at least five times. I have been obsessed with wedding planning since I was a little girl. I really should have been a wedding planner. I have so many ideas and so much passion for wedding planning. In fact, sometimes I get worried that when I finally get engaged, I won't know what I want!

But anyway, she's getting married at a vineyard in Charlottesville, Virginia. I am just tickled to death with this whole wedding process. So we are heading to David's Bridal for her to try on dresses for the first time. The color scheme of the wedding is orange and yellow. I think it's going to be beautiful, especially in spring :)

Well, I'm going to go enjoy this beautiful day by welcoming the sun back into my life.

Unbelievable

For the past three years I have participated in an annual event that is very reputable and the elaborate. For the past couple of weeks I have felt so shunned by the leaders of this group.

Firstly, because my name is spelled wrong in the program. I specifically told three different people they had my name spelled wrong on the sign in sheet and it was still spelled wrong. That is one of the biggest signs of disrespect in my opinion.

I am absolutely flabbergasted because I am one of the most dedicated members of this group. And yet somehow people who show up late to rehearsal and don't give two shits about this group are getting special treatment in a variety of ways.

Unfair. Disrespectful.

Probably the biggest slap in the face is that all of these people are "friends." Some friends, huh?

Quickie

I'm going to try and make this post a little happier and quicker than the last one :)

Spring starts tomorrow at 1:32pm. YAY! I couldn't be more happy that winter is over. I sat outside today in my bathing suit in an attempt to get some color. I'm really hoping it worked too because it was too hot to sit out there for another hour.

Happy Spring, All!

So sick and tired of this

I can't take it anymore. I have been on hold with my insurance people for more than 20 minutes (for the second time today).

They called me--during my nap, by the way--to inform me that since I live in Virginia I needed to change my carrier since Blue Care Network of Michigan doesn't cover me in Virginia. Weird. Because I've been getting treated in Virginia the last four years!

This whole health care/COBRA thing is beyond me. It's weighing on my nerves more than anyone can understand. I think I have a gray hair from it all, which doesn't make me happy since I'm only 22. These people give me more health problems: high blood pressure, stress, and talk about emotional issues like ANGER and IRE.

I mean seriously, though, why does it have to be so complicated. So Unicare, Blue Care of Michigan, actually, BCBS in general, if you are reading. I HATE YOU. I hope your headquarters goes up in flames because your company is pure evil, right down to your core.

I pray that the Republicans come to their senses and vote on some sort of health care reform. This is ridiculous. I don't know what else to do with myself or my health insurance for that matter. I'm done.

It's been a while

Well, hello first blog of 2010. Sorry it took me so long. Things have been a little crazy to say the least.

First off, I graduated! Woo hoo! I now hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications...Cum Laude, what what! It was four and a half years of hard work (not to mention really busting my butt the last two years) but it's all paid off now that I have this cheap piece of paper with a seal on it. Great.

I've started a new job. I work at WWBT-NBC12 in Richmond. It's been great so far. I'm meeting a lot of awesome people and getting lots of good training. Hopefully things will continue the way they're going now.

In not so great news, since I'm no longer a student my parents' health insurance has dropped me. Enter COBRA. Our health care system is so messed up. Like, truly messed up. And what pains me is that we will do anything and everything to help other countries (like Iraq and Haiti) and yet we don't help our own citizens. It really makes me sick to be honest. Oh, no! Don't say sick! It'll cost you!

But to end on a lighter note, I am going to Jamaica in April. My cousin is getting married in May and six of us are taking a bachelorette trip for an extended weekend. I figured I'd take the couple days to go down there and unwind. I need it. Hell, I deserve it. I've worked hard these past couple of months. I still work hard. Trouble now is, I need to get my bikini body back. Damn you, winter!

That's all my rants for now. Thanks for reading.

Almost Famous

Self Advertisement: First episode of VCU InSight this Friday and Sunday at 7pm on Richmond PBS.

Okay now that that's out of the way let's touch on some current events:

  1. Chris Brown picking up garbage on the side of the road in Richmond--although quite amusing, a not really what I think of as "breaking news."
  2. President Obama calling Kanye West a jackass--He's a big boy, which means he can use big boy words. Yes, Kanye is a jackass. How dare you take that microphone away from that poor little girl? She earned that moment...JACKASS!
  3. Joe Wilson and his outburst--It was ridiculous, but can we let it go?
  4. I wish the Bills would have beat the Patriots the other night. At least the Giants beat the Redskins.
  5. NRA endorses Bob McDonnell as their favorite gubernatorial candidate--Good for them...and Gander Mountain if he wins!
  6. Yale student's body in wall--beyond disturbing. How could someone do something so horrid?
  7. Shooting at a local Richmond high school this afternoon--Is it bad that I didn't react very strongly to this? Maybe we're becoming desensitized to this sort of thing?
Film class makes me wish Graduation was tomorrow.
